Bless Me, Ultima. by Rudolfo Anaya
This is simply a jewel. I have carried this book for years, sharing it with my special friends. It is simply written, and strikes to the core. It is the story of a boys relationship with a curandera, who heals with herbs and magic. How his vision and life was affected by the influence of this eternal mother. It is also a fondness of mine that she is also the medicine of Owl. Ultima was also the midwife to the birth of the boy, Antonio. I cannot say more except- read this. It is beautiful.

Rudolpho Anaya is a winner of the Premio Quinto Sol, national Chicano literary award. - Flint , posted 03/11/07
